There is enormous pressure on Sri Lanka currently in Geneva to implement the LLRC recommendations. There is no need for the international community to pass a Resolution in this regard. Of the 135 main recommendations made by the LLRC, the Government has already implemented closer to half of them.
Mar 11, Colombo: The government of Sri Lanka has appointed a committee to study and make recommendations on the draft resolution on Sri Lanka that has been tabled by the United States at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva.
Mar 10, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government vehemently rejected the new resolution the United States tabled against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council on Friday in Geneva saying that the resolution is “substantive, intrusive and political in nature,” and far from a procedural resolution.
