 Dear Editor:

Let’s get this story right about Sri Lanka’s Tamil Tiger separatist war once and for all.  It is not only the Tamil civilians who got killed, which is being blamed on the Sri Lankan Government soldiers, the Sinhalese and Muslim civilians  too were killed in the thousands by the Tamil Tigers, with machates, AK47s, claymore mines, suicide bombs, and other sophisticated war weapons.

It was an every day affair which hijacked the right-to-life of 21 million peoples by the Tamil Tiger terrorists for  27  bloody years until their rights were given back  by the Mahinda Rajapaksa government having wiped out the Tamil Tigers militarily on 19 May 2009.

It is cruel and disingenuous for the UN to now talk of war crimes against the Sri Lankan soldiers who liberated the country when the UN was ineffectual to protect the Sri Lankan peoples for 27 years that killed over 100,000 people but just not those killed during the last five months of the war which the UN keeps lamenting about as human rights violations.

And the UN did sweet nothing when over 7,300 children, girls and boys, were kidnapped by the Tamil Tigers to be given a three month course how to fight with guns and bullets and sent to the front line only to be killed by gun fire; and training young girls to be suicide bombers who were involved  in half of the 388 suicide bombs that were detonated killing themselves and hundreds of  others each time.  Acccording to UNICEF by 2007 there were a total of 6,183 cases of child recruitment by the Tamil Tigers of which 3,732 were boys and 2,451 were girls.

It would be fair to note after liberating the country and its peoples, especially the Tamils from the clutchers of the ruthless Tamil Tigers, the soldiers liberated just over 1000 child soldiers, reintegrated  them into society, sent them back to their parents and  school and some after three years are now attending university to become doctors, lawyers and engineers.  That is the real story which the media seems to miss in their radar.

Let truth prevail, and lets stop knocking the Sri Lankan government who came to the rescue of its Tamil Tiger jackbooted  21 million people when the UN failed to help them.
