Sri Lanka claims organized group of Tamil Diaspora is behind illegal migration

July 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka cabinet spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has said that the illegal migration of Sri Lankans to Australia is handled by an organized group of Tamil diaspora.
He said that groups linked to Tamil Diaspora are handling this to raise human rights issues at the UN Human Rights Council.
The Minister stated that the Sri Lanka government would work closely with the Australian authorities to prevent the illegal migration.

The government has also decided to launch a counter propaganda programme to discourage people from taking the perilous journey over the sea.
Sri Lanka Navy arrested 67 persons yesterday also as they were attempting to migrate illegally to Australia.
The Navy has prevented six illegal migration attempts from the coastal areas of the country in the last 10 days alone. During the last 10 days the Navy has arrested 401 people including 7 women and 7 children attempting to illegally migrate to Australia.
