Media Release

The Government of Thailand deports alleged LTTE Tamil Tiger supporter Christy Reginold Lawrence back to LTTE Tiger den in Norway.

The Government of Thailand has rightly decided that anti-Sri Lankan activities conducted in Phuket, Thailand by LTTE Tamil Tiger Terrorists and their supporters have to be curtailed when it issued the deportation order to send Christy Reginold Lawrence (Sri Lankan born Tamil and now Norweigian citizen), the alleged LTTE Tamil Tiger aide back to Norway. It is indeed a laudable act by a Government believing in peaceful co-existence in the international community. Unlike some of the so called flag-bearers of western democratic world who see no evil and hear no evil of LTTE Tamil Tiger Terrorism conducting anti-Sri Lanka activities in their cities, Thailand has shown how a responsible government should respond to the spectre of international terrorism. We take this opportunity to thank profusely the Supreme Sangaraja of Thailand, the Sangaha Council, the Hon Prime Minister, Hon Foreign Minister, Military Officials, Media personnel and all concerned officials especially in the island of Phuket.

Last two decades had been a difficult period for Sri Lanka and her people. Innocent Buddhist and Muslim clergy, children, men, women were massacred. Killings were brutal. Women were raped. Children, infants and even toddlers were beheaded. Sacred Buddhist places of worship were bombed.

Tamil Tiger Terrorists were responsible for deaths of nearly sixty thousands human beings. The third highest 20th century killings by a political terrorist ! Yet, the 'friendly' democratic nations still think that Tamil terrorists or their front organizations should not be controlled in their big cities in collecting funds to bolster the Tiger killing machine. Funds collected by the front organisations of the Tamil Tigers and technology gathered by them ultimately result in killing Sri Lankans and destroying the Sri Lankan economy. The Phuket incident and the deportation of Christy Reginold Lawrence, an alleged Tamil Tiger gun-runner and arms dealer is very significant.

We say this because Thailand has acted promptly in the name of Democracy and Human Rights. Thailand and her people have shown how the forces of terrorism and racism should be dealt with. They have refused to be a part of killing grounds of Tamil Terrorism and have rejected the claims of Tamil Terrorist fronts to operate covertly within' inadequate' legal framework.

We salute again Thailand and her people for the courageous step taken in this instance.

Yours faithfully
