- About 20-30 terrorists carrying arms had entered the Puttur Muslim Village, forced open the co-operative stores and robbed canned fish, batteries, flour, dhal and sugar. They then killed nine Muslims and moved towards Mahaweli River Bank and cut to death another eight persons, injuring four others. One of the injured, succumbed to his injuries;




11 June 1990 : the LTTE kidnapped over 600 policemen, killed many soldiers and declared war.

Genocide by LTTE
Since 1975, the LTTE Tigers have been mercilessly murdering their countrymen.
* On 27 July 75, Jaffna Mayor Alfred Duriappah was assassinated in a HINDU Temple because he had become an obstacle to the Tigers' craving for power.
* 17 April 87 - LTTE leader PULENDRAN led a brutal massacre of 127 bus travellers, including pregnant women and children, at Kithulutuwa, Trincomalee.
* 7 July 87 - LTTE Tigers murdered in cold blood, 34 Buddhist Monks at ARANTALAWA. The CHIEF PRIEST was hacked to death while he pleaded for the lives of the other monks.
* The Tigers murdered AMIRTHALINGAM, SRI SABARATNAM, UMA MAHESWERAN and PADMANABAH - all leaders of other TAMIL groups.
* 3 August 90- Tigers massacred 140 Tamil speaking MUSLIMS, including children, while they prayed in their Mosques, in Batticaloa.
* 10 August 90-LTTE massacred 127 innocent villagers, including women and children while they slept in their huts at Eravur.
In July 1987 the Indo - Lanka Peace Accord was signed. The Accord provided for the North-East provincial council for the Tamil people. The LTTE Tigers have always rejected elections. They disrupted the Provincial Council elections, the Presidential elections and the General Elections in Sri Lanka. The Tigers refused to contest in the North - East Provincial Council elections, and instead began a war against the Indian Peace keeping Force.

03.05.86 Madras India Air Lanka Tri-star explosion -16 killed (13 foreigners - of whom 2 British, 2 German, 3 French, 2 Japanese, 1 Maldivian and 1 Pakistani - and 3 Sri Lankans), 39 injured[15].
25.05.86 Mahadivulwewa Armed LTTE terrorists shot dead 20 Sinhalese and set fire to 20 houses[16].

12.06.87 Godapotta, Medirigiriya Polonnaruwa About 175 villagers had gathered to discuss a new temple. LTTE Terrorists surrounded the temple and attacked them, killing eight villagers and a soldier. Six persons were injured[34].

03.04.91 Keviliya Foul Point Trincomalee LTTE Terrorists in two boats surrounded several boats and opened fire at the fishermen.10 dead bodies and 11 injured were found. Sixteen were missing. The missing persons were either taken away by terrorists or drowned after being shot[96].

29.04.92 Alinchipothana Polonnaruwa LTTE Terrorists attacked the Alinchipothana village, killing 56 Muslims and injuring 15 [111].
02.06.92 209th Mile Post Ampara A group of LTTE terrorists stopped a bus opened fire, killing 14 civilians, 1 policeman, and injuring 2 civilians and 1 policeman[112].
06.07.92 Parayankaulam Vavuniya LTTE Terrorists publicly shot dead 10 Tamil lorry drivers and a woman, alleging that they had passed information to the security forces[113].
15.07.92 Kirankulam, Batticaloa LTTE Terrorists attacked a civilian bus proceeding from Kathankudy towards Kalmunai, killing 19 Muslims and injuring 7 Muslims[114].
21.07.92 Parangiyamadu, Batticaloa LTTE Terrorists stopped a train, ordered the passengers to get down and opened fire at the Muslim passengers: seven Muslims were killed and four Muslims were injured. [115].
30.08.92 Trincomalee Town A LTTE bomb planted in a private bus at the bus-stand exploded, killing 9 civilians and injuring 34 (including 4 soldiers, 2 reserve policemen)[116].
01.09.92 Saindamaradu Kalmunai A LTTE bomb fixed to a push-cycle carrying an ice-cream container, exploded at the market, killing 22 Muslims and injuring 67 others[117].
10.09.92 Kiliveddi Point Trincomalee Terrorists blasted a ferry across Allai Tank and killed 22 soldiers and 7 civilians, and injured 1 soldier and 2 civilians[118].
