Terrorist
Carnage in Bali
The Society for Peace Unity and
Human Rights in Sri Lanka, NSW (SPUR, NSW)
unequivocally condemns the barbaric and heinous act of violence committed on
civilians in Bali on the night of Saturday the 12 October 2002. We extend our
deep sympathy and condolences to the victims, families of Australians and others
affected by this great tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with
these innocents, and wish them early and pain free recovery from injuries and
from mental trauma.
SPUR, NSW commends the
Australian Federal Parliament, the Prime Minister, Senior Ministers, and State
Governments and their agencies for the prompt and effective relief provided to
the affected, in a decisive and expeditious manner. Our Society would continue
to support the current and future anti terrorism initiatives of the Australian
authorities to eradicate international terrorist propaganda, fund raising and
the operation of global terrorist networks from Australian soil.
SPUR, NSW has during the past
years made concerted effort to provide vital information to the Australian
public, statesmen and community leaders of the
lurking danger of global terrorist activities masquerading as community fronts
in Australia. We have through public demonstrations in capital cities,
representations, public lectures by experts and through all media paths rought
home the message related to the Tamil Tiger Terrorists who have wrought similar civilian carnage over 25 years in that once serene
nation Sri Lanka. International terrorist groups, wherever they exist around the
globe, provide network and technical support services to each other. The
explosives expertise of the Tamil Tiger Terrorists is world renowned, and has
been provided to extremist groups connected to Al Q'uida operating in South East
Asia.
