MEDIA RELEASE

9 February 2000

MURDER OF THE INNOCENTS CONTINUE, BUT THE WORLD IS DEAF & DUMB

2 MORE BUS BOMBS KILL CIVILIANS IN SRI LANKA - TAMIL TIGER TERRORISTS CARRY ON THEIR SPATE OF ATTACKS ON INNOCENTS WHILE THE WORLD CALLS FOR "PEACE TALKS" .

9 BUS BOMBS IN JUST AS MANY DAYS!

Sri Lankan sources say that at least ten people have already died and twelve more are in critical condition as a result of the spate of Tamil Tiger chain attacks which began on last Thursday. The Sri Lankan government, virtually taken hostage by the terrorists, report a low death toll, fearing resentment from the masses. The government and the main opposition, whose leaders are scared for their own lives, are bending over backwards to please the Tigers by agreeing to use the Tigers’ Norwegian sympathisers. On the other hand, the Tigers have decided to make sure they strengthen their stand and drive terror in to the hearts of all Sri Lankans by killing as many civilians as possible before the "talks" materialise. The Norwegians, on their part, are silent about the latest string of atrocities.

With Chechnya & Timor in their focus, world media give scant attention to the plight of innocents in Sri Lanka - a country smaller than Tasmania but with a population equalling that of Australia - while Tamil Tiger terrorists carry on their abominable atrocities in the shade of media blindness.
