Tamil Tiger Terrorists Exterminate Muslims and Sinhalese in Eastern Sri Lanka

Human Rights Advocates are duped once again

12 Sinhalese villagers killed by LTTE terrorists in Welikande, Easten Sri Lanka 29th May 2006

Prabakaran - the Vampire

The Pol-Pot of Sri Lanka , Prabakaran’s thirst for blood is unquenchable. Bodies of 11 Muslim men missing since Sunday afternoon were found with their hands tied behind their back and their throats slit about 12 miles from the Pothuvil town. These peasant farmers had been contracted to clean a sluice gate at the Raddala reservoir when they were kidnapped by the Tamil Tiger terrorists and brutally assassinated. The only civilian who was fortunate enough to escape death has now sought the assistance of Sri Lanka ’s armed forces to protect his life. Meera Mohideen, the sole survivor is currently in the Kanthale hospital and had said, that “Tamil speaking men wearing shorts and T shirts killed my compatriots. We begged the LTTE for mercy; they continued to laugh sadistically stabbing, chopping and cutting up my friends with swords” . Mr Mohideen had no doubt that they were Tamil Tigers.

SPUR unreservedly condemns this brutal act of LTTE barbarism and urge the government to hunt the perpetrators down as quickly as possible.

LTTE’s modes operandi is clear. It is hell bent on ethnically cleansing the East of Sri Lanka of Sinhalese and Muslim people so that it can claim the East of Sri Lanka to be traditional homeland of the Tamil people. LTTE’s continued ethnic cleansing activities are evidenced by:

  1. Twelve Sinhalese contractors were brutally assassinated while again, cleaning irrigation channels in the Welikanda area on the 29th of May
  2. The LTTE closed the Mahavil Oya sluice that transformed 15,000 families from being successful farmers to destitute. These Sinhalese and Muslim families unable to irrigate their rice fields had to watch their crops wither away due to lack of water.
  3. Exploding a mine attacking a bus on 15 June 2006 in the town of Kabithigollewa , 125 miles north of Colombo killing at least 64 Sinhalese people and severely injured at least 80 others. Many of the dead were children.
  4. The killing of three Sinhalese youth working for a Sri Lankan NGO in Vavuniya who were assisting internally displaced farmers with actions to return home
  5. The abduction and killing of 103 Muslim youth in Pachchanoor as evidenced by ICRC Communication Officer Davide Vignate visit to the killing field
  6. The expelling of 40,000 Muslims and Sinhalese from Muttur town

The LTTE’s strategy is crystal clear. It leaves no room for ambiguity. They are systematically cleansing the East of Sri Lanka of the Sinhalese and the Muslims not only by killing the traditional inhabitants, but also depriving the people of their livelihood. Most of the attacks have been against farmers and people working on irrigation infrastructure.

The Misinformation – LTTE Style

The Tamil Tigers have tried to blame the Sri Lankan forces for the killings. However, the only eyewitness Mr Meera Mohideen has confirmed that the killers were Tamil Tigers. We urge the Sri Lankan Government to provide Mr Mohideen with security that is usually provided to a VIP and to video tape an interview as evidence of LTTE’s brutality in the presence of the ICRC as a matter of priority.  While many Muslim leaders have unreservedly condemned the LTTE for carrying out this dastardly act, it is a tragic to see Rauff Hakeem of the Muslim Congress making crude attempts to blame Special Task Force members for the killings. It is a well-known fact that Rauff Hakeem is an apologist for the LTTE as evidenced by the photo below.

Prabakaran with his ‘deaf and dumb’ lackey Rauff Hakeem, the Muslim Congress Leader

Where was Rauff Hakeem when over 100 Muslim youth were recently assassinated in Pachanoor? Was he not able to contact his mate Prabakaran to let the ICRC conduct a proper investigation on the Pachanoor killing fields?  When the ICRC Communication Officer David Vignate visited the killing fields to conduct the inquiry, he was told by the LTTE that he had one hour (from 12noon to 1.00pm) to conduct the study. Hakeem was nowhere to be seen whilst this was happening.  Was he not capable of contacting his buddy, Prabakaran to establish an environment conducive to an impartial investigation as to what happened to the 100 missing Muslims, the constituency that fraudulent Hakeem claims to represent?  Upon their return, people accompanying David Vignate had stated that an area close to where they were looking for the missing Muslims were strewn with identity cards of the missing people and that there was a large flock of scavenging crows about 200m from where the team was searching for the missing men. The LTTE had warned the investigators not to venture in to that area. This was indeed the actual killing field that David should have but could not visit due to LTTE’s intransigence.

By the way, where was this Prabakaran’s lackey, Hakeem when 40,000 Muslims were chased out of Muttur?  Was it not the President who stood up for the Muslim in Muttur? All what Hakeem parroted was a muffled request for a cessation of violence by the LTTE.

Obligations of the Sri Lankan Government

The democratically elected Sri Lankan Government is obligated to provide safety to all its citizens irrespective of where they live: that is the North, the South, the West or the East. Whether they are Sinhalese, Muslims or Tamils, the Government must expend its energy in totality to provide a safe living environment. This they have struggled to do with the Tamil Tigers running amok, systematically killing innocent civilians and then blaming the Government, especially its armed forces for carrying out these executions.  This pattern has been followed repeatedly as evidenced by LTTE’s “kill first and then blame the Government strategy” actioned:

1. After the Sencholai bombing of the LTTE training camp

2. The killing of the 17 Aid Workers in Trincomalee

3. The killing of Ketheswaran Loganathan, the Deputy Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Government’s Peace Secretariat and

4. After carrying out many kidnappings and murders in the Jaffna Peninsula and elsewhere within the Island .

The Government is currently being pressurised by international organisations such as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the New York based Human Rights Watch. These organisations have unfortunately been gullible, swallowing the LTTE terrorist propaganda hook, line and sinker.

President Rajapksa’s government has taken some decisive steps to tackle these pressing issues of human rights, summary killings and kidnappings including the appointment of a retired judge and the establishment of a special police unit to support him.

Urgent action is required to cleanse our armed forces of the mud thrown by the LTTE, NGO’s supporting their terror and feral, bankrupt politicians such as Hakeem. We believe the government has to establish the internationally backed human rights mechanism that President Rajapakse promised the other day, without further delay. We also urge the Government’s media unit to be more vigilant and be quick with a counter response, when the LTTE attempts to clandestinely action their “kill first and then blame the Government strategy”. The Government must also consider sending a multiparty multiethnic parliamentary delegation to key democracies around the world and to key organisations such as the United Nations to rectify the misinformation spread by the LTTE.

Anti LTTE Tamil and Muslim leaders such as Mr Anandasangaree and Ms Fereal Ashroff must be members of this roaming international ambassador team.
