Tamil community
SPUR
Urges Immediate Action from the Norwegian Government
The
Society Peace Unity and Human Rights of Sri Lanka (SPUR), an 11-year-old human
rights organization operating from Australia learnt from media reports that
the Tamil Tiger Terrorists in Norway are doing their utmost to suppress the
freedom of expression and democratic rights of the Norwegian Tamil citizens by
threatening them with violence and some even with death.
It
has been widely reported that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE
terrorists) had issued the second and last warning to Mr Rajan Sivarajah,
leader of the Liberal Democratic Tamils in Norway, an organisation dedicated
to embracing democracy and the protection of human rights of Tamils North and
East in Sri Lanka.
Although
the Norwegian authorities have been informed about the death threats and the
extortion of money from the Norwegian Tamils, apparently, no action has been
taken by them up to now to safeguard the democratic rights of the Tamil
residents in Norway disagreeing with the LTTE’s despotic, violent and
sadistic ways.
As
detailed in the reports, the most common problem faced by the Tamils living in
Norway is extortion, the pressure to pay for the war chest of the terrorist
outfit. Rajan Sivarajah is one of the very few Tamils who refused to pay the
LTTE. Sivarajah’s account of his death threat reflects what the vast
majority of Tamils living in Norway experience in silence under the Tamil
Tigers’ terrorist grip. They are tortured on a daily basis.
The
LTTE has a proven record of killing ethnic Tamils civilians who disagree with
their ideology and famous for their racist hatred of non Tamils. They have an
unenviable recode of killing Tamil political opponents, and the killing of a
well respected global figure such as the Foreign Minister Mr. Laxshman
Kadirgamar is a case in point of LTTE’s desperation and psychopathic lust
for violence. Although LTTE is an outlawed terrorist organization in US, UK,
Australia, India, Malaysia and many other countries, Norway is universally
regarded as a sanctuary for this terror group.
As
an organization committed to peace, unity and human rights, SPUR appeals to
the United Nation, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the
International Community to condemn:
(1)
Tamil Tiger’s recent issuing of death threats to Tamil leaders in
Norway who oppose the LTTE; and
(2)
Extorting money from the Norwegian Tamil community at large to purchase
arms and pay recruited child soldiers.
We also urge the Norwegian Governments
to take decisive steps to stop the LTTE extortions, stop the allocation of
government and municipal funding to the LTTE front organisations in Norway and
to take immediate action to assure that the democratic rights of the Tamil
community living in Norway are by no means compromised by the actions of LTTE
terrorists.
Thanking
you,

sincerely,
