Termination of
Contract of Employment - Professor P Ramasamy of the University
Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
The
Society for Peace Unity and Human Rights of Sri Lanka (SPUR), a 10-year-old
human rights organization operating from Australia wish to express its
gratitude to the Malaysian authorities for their prudent and timely action
taken to terminate the contract of employment of P. Ramasamy, a professor
attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University
Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as reported in the Press.
Prof
Ramasamy, by his Press Release dated 5th August 2005 appeared in Tamil Eelam (A website of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Tigers,
LTTE, one of the most ruthless terrorist outfits in the world waging a
secessionist campaign in Sri Lanka), has revealed his links with the terrorist
outfit by admitting that he was appointed by the LTTE to its so-called
Constitutional Affairs Committee in 2003. The LTTE is responsible for the
massacring of thousands of innocent civilians, many political leaders and
opponents (including ethnic Tamils) through out the last two decades. The
leader of the LTTE, Velupillai Prabhakaran is a criminal wanted by the
Interpol for the atrocities committed by him including the murder of Rajiv
Gandi, Prime Minister of India. The Tamil Tiger Terrorist group has not
denounced armed violence but continues its killing spree despite the
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Government of Sri Lanka, in
2002.
The
LTTE, an outlawed terrorist organization in most of the countries in the
world, has links with many other leading secessionist terrorist organizations
throughout the world and there are proven evidences to support the claim that
the terrorist outfit is also responsible for arms smuggling and drug
trafficking within the region of South East Asia, notably, via Thailand.
According to a most recent news item appeared in Asia
Tribune dated 12 August 2005, Sri Lanka police has detained a vessel
arrived from Jakartha with a large shipment of arms and mortars with its
Indonesian crew and the Criminal Investigation Department of Sri Lanka is
probing to ascertain whether the shipment was meant for the LTTE.
Hence,
we agree by all means, that the said Prof Ramasamy, an orchestrator of
secessionism, having close links with separatist terrorist movements such as
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), is not the right person to be
employed for the purpose of academic and intellectual development of a
prestigious University like UKM.
As
an organization committed for Peace Unity and Human Rights we appreciate the
fact that the greatness of the present and recent past leaders of Malaysia,
unlike most of the those in the developing world, lies not only their courage
to stand up to the global policemen and international Shylocks but their
leaderships which have hoisted Malaysia from the depths of poverty to the
level of an economic heights in the region by maintaining its territorial
integrity leaving no room for secessionism.
While
thanking once again for the right decision taken by the authorities concerned,
we request your continuous support to defeat the menace of secessionism.
