Mr Tony
Blair
The Hon
Prime Minister
10, Downing
Street, London
The United Kingdom
A
wake up call for the British policy makers and the law
enforcing
authorities from the incident at the Hindu Kovil in Wembley
We
wish to refer to the recent incident where two British citizens of Sri Lankan
Tamil origin were held illegally by the Tamil Tiger Terrorist mafia. We appeal
to you to take urgent action to punish the culprits who live in the UK and
also to take the required steps to stop the Tamil Tiger Terrorists from
operating in the UK, from where they are promoting terrorism and human
rights violations in Sri Lanka.
The
British Government's professed stand on international terrorism and its
unabashed facilitation provided to the Tamil Tiger Terrorists in the UK
have lead many observers to realize the ease with which the 'powerful' nations
choose to run with the hares and hunt with the hounds while paying scant
regard to international obligations.
At
present, in the UK, Scotland Yard authorities are grilling Anton
Balasingham, one of the megalomaniac policy makers of the Tamil Tiger
Terrorists and his Australian born wife Adele Balasingham, the trainer of the
LTTE women fighters and suicide bombers. Ironically both these terrorist
leaders were given British passports due to the political pressure exerted by
some Tamil supporters of the British Labor party, who are at the receiving end
of the LTTE’s terrorism at present. In spite of the illegal
imprisonment of the duo who are former actvists of the LTTE in
Sri Lanka senior leaders of the terrorists the Balasinghams, are
treated as VIP politicians in the UK. The Balasingham couple have ample
opportunities to carry out their anti-Sri Lanka misinformation campaign
while promoting Tamil Tiger Terrorism and ideology.
Now
with the stories unfolding from the Shiva Kovil in Wembley and the
related High Court case, the British authorities are receiving a
late wake up call. The evidence surfacing goes to prove beyond any doubt that
the Balasinghams and their clique were engaged in large scale fund
collections for the LTTE and were engaged in political and planning activities
for this terrorist outfit. It is unfortunate that even they had stooped
so low as to convert a religious centre into a place from which the Tamil
congregation could be coerced to help fund a killer squad. In short the LTTE has
a very high powered operational base in the UK!
A
number of Human Rights organizations have made several appeals to the U N and
the international community to close funding sources of the LTTE in order to
stop human rights violations such as child soldier recruitment, use of suicide
bombers etc. which were ignored by the British Government while they turned a
Nelsonian eye to the LTTE operatives.
The
issues emanating from the Hindu Kovil affair coming before the High Court and
the virtual imprisonment of the two British nationals by the LTTE mafia in Sri
Lanka to force a transfer of the Kovil mangement in the UK, in
itself is a valid reason for the British authorities to say enough is enough.
Time has come to choose whether to run with the hares or to hunt them.
The
UN Security Council Resolutions 1267 (1999) of 15 Oct 1999, 1373( 2001) of 28
Sept 2001 and 1566 (2004)of 8 Oct 2004 are clear guidelines for the British
Government to act with resolve to help build a world where democracy,
pluralism and not terrorism, are accepted as governing principles.
We
kindly request you to initiate a policy change without giving into the dreams
of reforming the Tamil Tiger Terrorists. Please listen to the harrowing tales
of the innocent Tamil civilians killed, political opponents massacred, child
soldiers used as cannon fodder and take action to restore the confidence of
the Sri Lankan people in the British policy towards terrorism. The LTTE
remains as one of the most brutal of the terrorist organizations of our time.
Let
the UK policy makers and the authorities have the courage and the wisdom to
help stop the LTTE receiving nourishment in the UK.
