LTTE Men Hijack State Bus With Its Driver & Conductor

BATTICALOA:
IN ANOTHER HIJACK DRAMA, LTTE (Tamil Tigers) had forcibly taken away a state bus Monday (01) around 10.00 a.m. while it was moving in KODUWAMADU area after it started off from KATTANKUDY, BATTICALOA bound for BADULLA.
Passengers on the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus (62-7189) belonging to KATTANKUDY SLTB bus depot have been made to get off the bus before the bus with its driver and conductor was hijacked.
The bus passed through the entry/exit point on the Black Bridge and entered un-cleared areas at about 9.15 a.m..
Stranded commuters later brought the matter to the notice of the troops on duty in the area.
The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) was informed of the incident.
However, a report just reached Tuesday (02) afternoon confirmed that the hijacked bus has been released by the LTTE with its driver and the conductor.
The KATTANKUDY Police investigations are on.

LTTE’s RPGs & APMs Spotted Before Explosion

BATTICALOA & MANNAR:
THREE ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADES (RPGs) that have been planted near an entry/exit point in VALAICHCHENAI by LTTE terrorists with a view to causing mayhem and destruction were spotted by vigilant troops on Monday (01) around 7.30 a.m..
Troops before commencement of their routine duties at the KINNIYADY entry/exit point, on Monday (01) conducted a search in the area on suspicion.

All three grenades were de-fused by the Army Bomb Disposal Squad.
Meanwhile, troops during search and clear operations in SIRUNAVATKULAM area in MANNAR on Monday (01) were able to recover two Anti-Personnel Mines (APM), hidden close to a proposed site for an observation post of the troops.
All those violations were referred to the SLMM.
