PROVOCATIVE LTTE (TAMIL TIGER) TERRORIST ACTS, GRENADE AND FIRE ATTACKS and other atrocities against members of the Security Forces, Policemen, political activists and civilians seem to be the order of the day for LTTE cadres in some parts of the north and east of the country, irrespective of numerous appeals made to Tamil Tigers (LTTE) for restraint.

An armed group of Tamil Tigers in the meantime launched a small arms fire attack on the KODIKAMAM Police Station in JAFFNA at about 8.45 p.m. Thursday (29) night but the Policemen repulsed the attack with retaliatory fire.

The LTTE firing and retaliatory attack continued for about half an hour, prompting the troops and the Police to launch a search and clear operation.
Motorbike-riding two Tamil Tigers as late as Thursday (29) afternoon detonated one more hand grenade and tried to kill troops providing security to the Community Center at NALLUR, JAFFNA but the explosion injured only one soldier.

Around 9.50 a.m. Thursday (29) morning, troops on piquet duty at NALLUR on JAFFNA – PALALY road came under attack. In a similar incident, Tamil Tigers hiding behind the Forward Defence Line (FDL) at SEENOOR, JAFFNA, fired about 20 - 30 rounds towards the troops who were on duty at about 11.30 p.m. Wednesday (28) night. The firing missed the target and spared the lives of soldiers. Two suspected armed LTTE men inflicted serious injuries on a civilian, resident in the general area of AWARANTULAWA junction in VAVUNIYA after shooting at him in the morning on Thursday (29).
