Our Mission The Society for Peace, Unity and Human Rights (SPUR) stands for all the objectives stated in its name. However, in a welter of claims and counter claims, myths and facts, illusions and realities, it is rather difficult for peace-seekers to make statements of their own without being accused of bias. Primary objective of this page is to present authentic and authoritative voices advancing the cause of peace, unity and human rights in Sri Lanka.

Sponsor a Child

Our child sponsorship programme, called Ranaviru Daruvan, was aimed at helping the children of soldiers who had sacrificed their life or limbs in the war being waged against terrorists in Sri Lanka. In this programme we also included children living in villages under the constant threat of terrorists and had already faced terrorist attacks many times

In the face of the 2004 Tsunami, we extended our programme to include those children who had suffered some kind of loss in that terrible natural disaster.

Our programme now also includes children who were affected by terrorist activities like the Kebithigollawa bomb blast.

We are currently also working with the Siriliya Saviya Scholalrship programme in Sri Lanka which is conducted under the patronage of Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapakse. They have provided us with ten children for whom sponsors have come forward.

We continue to receive names of children from our sources in Sri Lanka. If you wish to sponsor a child, please contact Durga or Jayantha  to get more details of the programme and any of the under mentioned for details of children available for sponsorship.
